I generally play all genres of games, but my favorites are RPG/FPS/RTS. I have a ton of emulators, and a ton of ROMs. (Don't tell anyone :P) I still enjoy ancient video games, big deal. I prefer PC to 360, but that doesn't mean I never play my 360.
I quit WoW a couple of months ago. It was awesome, but I really wasn't finding the time for progression, and it seemed like a waste of time with the expansion coming out in November. I'll be back when WotLK releases, though. :B
I'll try to be specific.
Movies that don't suck. :D
I enjoy most genres of music, including jazz, classical, electronica, 80s, most music featured in video games, and basically anything progressive and requires impressive musicianship. However, my favorite music is probably metal. I don't take a fancy to today's hip-hop (80s FTW) or any country music that has ever existed. Sorry.
I also like music that doesn't take itself too seriously.
Usually anything on Adult Swim or G4.
The Office
Arrested Development
Curb Your Enthusiasm
I used to be pretty big on Anime, but where I live, the availability is nil, so I'm pretty out of date as far as that goes.
About roboturner
My name is Darren. I'm not too great at describing myself, I'll leave you to getting to know me. I'll go ahead and explain myself as far as why I created this profile, and what I spend my time doing.
I thought the idea of a "gamer" networking site would be interesting, considering "gamers" clearly share the common ground of liking video games, so I decided to give it a shot. My time is obviously spent mostly by playing video games. Aside from video games, I enjoy making and listening to music; I play the guitar, and I also enjoy messing with trackers. I have found myself torrenting a lot lately. Good stuff. I make films in my free time as well, and I am kinda interested in possibly turning it into a career after I get through college. I'm not entirely used to randomly adding people, but since I don't actually know anyone on here very well, it's probably going to be the easiest way to actually get to know people on here. So if I randomly add you, don't be surprised. You should also feel free to add me if you like, as well. I think I'm generally a friendly person. :D
And one more thing, please make an effort to talk to me before you add me. It's ultra cool having lot's of friends, sure, but I think you're missing the point if you don't actually know them. I'm really doubtful that you should be able to call them friends if you haven't carried a single conversation with them. If you manage to have a friendship with someone whom you haven't ever said something to, then more power to you. I've honestly never been able to do that. :P

Hey dude whats been up
Sorry about the long time away, had to do work for Honors and couldn't give myself to distraction. Anyhow, I enjoy our chats.
I think that if not for the written language, many Latin American countries would no longer be speaking Spanish. They have such thick accents (and sometimes omit certain sounds, like the r, in the case of Puerto Ricans) that matching the sounds to the official written Spanish language is still tying them to original Spanish, maybe preventing evolution. When I fake a Brit accent, I remove r's from the end of words (Sniper becomes Snipah) or add r's (Paula becomes Paular). Yet the words are spelled the same. I just read some psych theories on language. Some are pretty out-there, like that language itself determines our thoughts instead of the other way around. Then again, I've even heard the theory that everything we do, are, and think is already pre-written in our genetics, and we have absolutely no control over our lives. That would require all our experiences, language, beliefs, memories, and learned behaviors to somehow be encoded in our DNA before birth, which is a time paradox. So much fail, in one theory.
We should all just Vulcan Mind-link in my opinion. Enough of little patterned sounds and scribbles. Pointy ears and telepathy are where it's at, son.

Heya! sorry 'bout the delay; been studying for finals and such.
Language with no rules sounds like the breeding ground for tons of languages. Like if 5 guys from the same tribe and tongue go their own ways, continue to speak the language, but without any rules, I'd say the original would form 5 variants as their own tribes expanded and developed. Maybe that's how all language happened? I know American-Indian ancestry is suspected of descending from Asians passing through the Bering land bridge. American Indians were composed of innumerable tribes, with their own languages. They didn't exactly have dictionaries and rules, so their original Asian language must have evolved. Sounds good, you want an elastic language, but technically that means the DEATH, not survival of the original language. It's like it had babies, not that it's immortal. That'd be like saying my great grandfather is still alive because I'm alive. His genetic structure, sure - a tiny bit somewhere, but he's dead. I like your example about the "Gangsta" talk. It's all about youth. They want to fancy themselves "rebels," who don't follow institutions and rules made for their own benefit. Phail Phail Phail.
Hm, maybe it's best to be in "the middle." I'd say too many rules and restrictions on language can stop growth so it will die, but total anarchy and disregard to rules will slowly make one language turn into 2, then 3... or just make the language very confusing. Proper grammar and spelling should be a constant, I think. If we can't understand our accented speech, at least we can read the same books and official documents. But the creation of new words should remain open, if we need them. Though, we all have our own faux vocabularies. Gamers certainly do, amirit omg I pwnt that n00b. It actually has its uses though, game speak is made to be fast, and we know when to turn it off. Unlike gangsters.
I wish that nearly everyday. I'm going to spontaneously combust one day from an explosion of stress. No, implosion. And I make a black hole/time warp. So my matter is pulled into the black hole, only to go back in time, explode again in the future, then be sucked in to the past to repeat that fate. Wooh, an infinite death.
heyy, sorry i didn't get to come say hi until now. :)
whats upp?
Ha true, it is still annoying. Language was meant to be very fluid and easy to follow along. When you get slang, accents, careless spelling, made-up words and grammar errors, it's a mess and defeats the purpose. I really wish the whole world spoke only one language. A language which spelled every word just as it sounded, and root words were always clear. It should be so basic and easy that even more "Simple" people don't shun away from it. Then we'd just have to worry about |_337 youths using slang just to be different. ;)
<3
When you get a simple, misspelled comment, chances are, the person didn't put much thought in it. Their desire to converse with you was worth 1-2 seconds of time. I'm still not sure how to take it. On one hand, it's almost rude and shows the characteristics of a person that isn't very complex. Then again, not everyone has to be. I can appreciate simple people, and know many who are important to me. If I was born in their shoes, maybe I would be the same, since my experiences and environment may not have instilled an appreciation for proper language. I don't know. I just try not to judge. Went off topic there. Anyway, thanks, that's an awesome compliment. <3
haha i'll kick tom's ass
Not a whole lot is going on... Pretty much just been working and gaming... What have you been up to?
Yeah, you remind me of Robocop in that pic. Or Saiyaman. By the way, I like that your text is actually legible. Spelling and grammar are an easy choice many teens turn down.
Hey! Thanks for the add!

Aw it's not that, it's that the theory itself is bullshit, to put it simply. Language determining our thoughts ftl. It's an old theory, and no one really believes it anymore (kind of like Freudian theory). You're a smart guy. High school's probably keeping you down, making you study things you'll never use. It's like general ed classes in college, but longer, and it's easier to cheat.
