I started out gaming by playing the original GameBoy. Mine was yellow and my first game was The Little Mermaid, although I soon acquired Mickey Mouse, Red Version, Yellow Version, GameBoy Camera, and numerous others. Next, I recieved a Nintendo64 for Christmas from my uncle who lives in Kentucky. It was a transparent green color and came with a matching controller and Donkey Kong. I had no idea what was going on, but I played many hours on that game until I saw the light with Mario Kart and got another controller. I recieved Pokemon Stadium as a gift for my first communion and discovered that I could now play my Gameboy Pokemon games on the tv instead of the tiny little GameBoy screen.
Next was my GameBoy color(ruby colored), then the GameBoy Advance(transparent pink), and then I began computer gaming. I played childrens' games when I was younger, but the game I played now was Roller Coaster Tycoon. I purchased the Sims as well and spent many long nights destroying my fabricated families' homes and lives. Then I met Grippo. I was introduced to the idea of an RPG and played Runescape for at least 7 or 8 hours a day for an entire summer and never once was a member.
We got used GameBoy SPs from Gamestop and bought new Pokemon games and battled each other.
Next came World of Warcraft which I only played for one summer and then decided that it was too expensive and I would rather not only play a game because I felt obligated to get my money's worth, even when I didn't want to play.
After Wow we bought Nintendo DSs off of ebay and got multiple random games including Mario Kart, Brain Age, and Flash Focus, and his scores were always higher than mine on Flash Focus. One DS was stolen in the library at school, so we were forced to share for the remainder of Grippo's senior year.
Last, sometime in the late 2007 I started playing Halo2 campaign. Zach left his old Xbox at my house, and after I learned what to do, I figured out that "video games" weren't the worthless time-wasting demon-spawn that had been portrayed to me throughout my entire childhood.
Halo3 came out and I didn't play for a while after that although I watched Grippo come over almost every day after school and play COD and Halo on my connection, which although it is utterly CRAP is exponentially better than his.
Finally, in February 2008 I decided to Grippo's only free one month on his box to learn to play Halo3. I was in love. One slushy, icy, deplorably freezing and dusky snow-day we traversed through the sleet and snow to the nearest Gamestop, 30 minutes away on a GOOD day, with five hundred and fifty dollars cash in my purse an an intent to begin changing my life for the better.
We reached GameStop and I warily sloshed across the parking lot and entered the small building. Although I was nervous, I could not be swayed, I was buying a freakin Xbox360 no matter what, and Halo3 to boot. I hefted the small cardboard box with my new child in it to the counter and grabbed a Halo3 box, still disk-less. Upon setting my prizes on the counter, I requested a one year subscription to Xbox Live and the only game I would play for the next seven months, Halo3. Anxiously awaiting the return of my change, I turned to Grippo and smiled.
My life as I had known it was forever altered, grafted through the careful honing of the gaming community to understanding the secret language of this new world and talking the talk of the gamer.
We left Gamestop, drove an hour and someodd minutes home, and somehow managed to get to my house without dying.
It took ages to hook up my box, but ever since the day it's been hooked up, I've played every day minus two exceptionally pooey days which don't need to be explained here.
I LOVE GAMES NOW WOOOOT! Even if I still suck. A lot. I love them... And they made me closer to Grippo.
P.S. Yeah, I wrote a fricken novel, I am bored and procrastinating doing my 4 hours of homework..... Because it's 9:30 now. =D Peace
