Random Quote

I'm not Steve Spurrier. I’m Billy Mitchell. I don't need to run up the score. I just want to put one in the win column. I want to make it competitive. I didn't want to make it too tough. -Billy Mitchell on reclaiming his Donkey Kong World Record

» Meet Owlboy. He Looks Great. [Owlboy]

This is Owlboy. It's a game from D-pad Studio. This is their description of the game:

Owl Boy is a 2D platforming adventure for the Xbox 360 and Windows PCs. Go with Otus on a free flying quest into the clouds and discover the secrets of the floating islands while preserving the Owls' integrity...

Pretty much sums it up. Good news is it looks pretty great! Better news is it's being entered into the IGF, so hopefully it can pick up a little more exposure while it's there.

» Tragedy As Kid Plays Halo, Re-Creates Action With Real Gun [Halo]

There's been a tragic death in the town of Watertown, Wisconsin, as an 11-year old boy has accidentally shot and killed himself. Having taken the day off school for some Halo, Joshua Nimm was playing with a rifle, re-creating the action from the game. Problem was, although he ejected the rifle's magazine, it seems he didn't realise there was a round already in the chamber, and it went off. As a result, Nimm accidentally shot himself, and died as a result of his wounds.

» LittleBigPlanet Tries Viral With "iPop-It" [Clips]

Dated? Maybe a bit, but the frantic Sackboy air-humping in this attempt at viral marketing for LittleBigPlanet quickly won us over. We're kind of easy that way. It was uploaded by Rovient, who just happens to have the same handle as a Media Molecule level designer (thanks, Marco!) but we shan't hold that against them.

» Wait, Where Did That Cookie Come From? New Raving Rabbids TV Party Trailer [Ubisoft]

To celebrate the finale of Big Brother in the UK tonight, Ubisoft released this new trailer for Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party. I know that the cookie is supposed to be coming from under the couch (or at least I hope it is) but I can't help but chuckle at the fact that it looks like the bunny is having some sort of (insert joke here). The game is headed to Wii later this year.

» The Many Faces of Fable 2 [Fable 2]

The characters of Fable 2 are meant to be a reflection of the person playing them, to a point. The choices you make as you grow from childhood to adulthood in the game will change your character's appearance. But, your character is highly customizable. Lionhead Studios says they have tons more clothing to wear (all of which can be dyed), you can put on make-up, jewelry, change hairstyles, add facial hair. You can also morph your base appearance by tinkering with strength, how fat your character is, their skin type. The end result, Lionhead says, is billions of different characters.

Hit the jump to check out six possibilities.

» New Final Fantasy: Dissidia Trailer [Final Fantasy: Dissidia]

And it's a long one. Bring tea, and biscuits. Or, if you're a raving mad Square Enix fan, those two plus whatever else it is you'll need for 5:13 of hot, one-on-one Final Fantasy fisticuff action.

[thanks everyone who sent this in!]

» First Warhammer Brawler Footage Looks Hot [Warhammer]

We know THQ are working on a Warhammer brawler. And that it's both "brutal" and "intimate". Now, courtesy of this leaked demo vid, we know that it's called Warhammer 40K: Space Marine and, more importantly, we know how it looks. And boy does it look great. Bearing in mind this is early, raw footage (so excuse the empty levels and clunky run animation), the way they've already nailed the heavy and, yes, brutal feel of both the combat and the universe itself should have Warhammer fans excited.

» Cross Edge - Prinnies And Felicia, Fighting Together, Mass Hysteria [Clips]

Simply hearing about Cross Edge, the PlayStation 3 RPG that combines popular properties from Nippon Ichi, Gust, Namco Bandai, Idea Factory, and Capcom together into one all-star role-playing extravaganza was enough to turn fans (myself included) into bubbling puddles of joyful goo. Seeing the game in action in this Japanese trailer is enough to make me want to gather up all of the North American fans, form a giant robot, march over to Japan and demand the game get a U.S. release behind the barrel of a gigantic laser cannon.

Of course, being relatively timid RPG players we'd then apologize and quietly pre-order the import version once the tell us no, but for a brief moment we'd be united. That's the power of Felicia and a prinny on the same screen.
