Fire Emblem: Dragon of Darkness and Sword of Light, a Turn-Based video game for NES
Fire Emblem: Dragon of Darkness and Sword of Light
Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryuu to Hikari no Tsurugi is Nintendo's first installment in the prolific strategy roleplaying series. Released only in Japan, the subtitle translates to "Dragon of Darkness and Sword of Light." Set in the kingdom of Akaneia, the game's storyline follows the hero Marth (also featured in Super Smash Bros. Melee for Nintendo GameCube). The story goes that Marth was the betrayed prince of the Kingdom of Altea who was forced into exile when his lands were invaded by the evil kingdom of Dolua. Using his divine sword Falchion, Marth led a revolt against the intruders and became a bonafide hero when he killed the dark dragon Medeus. Gameplay uses board-game-style turn-based character movement with automated, RPG-style battles to play out conflicts. Players have to plan their attack routes, pit the right units against each other, and use the environment to their advantage.
