I was bored one day when I decided to look up a search of beta games that need testing online. As you would guess, alot of them looked like trash, then I found one that caught my eye. Alantica Online. I download the 2 gb client and register on the site and install. When I first entered the game just took me by storm!
I was so lost for words, the fighting style of the game reminded me of a cross between Final Fantasy (single player types) and a twist of Tatics in it, along with an enviroment that reminded me of Lineage II. As I started roaming around, the first NPC I met told me exactly how to do what I needed to learn to use the auto-run which took me to the objective that I was questing, and let me tell you, if not for this, I think I would be lost! So this helped me stay on track. Quests are kind of redundant cause you're basically doing the same thing over and over, and more frequently to finish up a quest run for certain npcs, but the rewards benefit you in a linear storyline. I continued playing hours and hours on in, and then I found myself hooked! Been a long time since a game did that to me.
At the start of the game, you start out with your main character, I chose Warrior class, and let me tell you, high def is a plus for your main. Then I got to hire 3 mercenaries to join me. I chose a Gunner, Archer and a Spearman. This combo was really well balanced all the way through the first stages of the game. Formation was always important, but putting my main up front wasn't too bad, cause if he died, well then that saves me reviving everyone.
If questing and killing pve becomes tidius, you can participate in Freeleague which basically is something that occurs every day frequently enough and pits you against other players and their mercs and formation. Idea is to kill the lead character, and then you win. I won a match with only my main and spearman left, and the guy had lost hp on his leader, but then a judgment scroll finally worked and wiped him lol. I couldn't stop laughing.
My character is Deneo, I play on Thebes Server.
All I can say is, you have to try this game. It's really addictive and fun!
